15-5 is not going to cut it.15-5 is not going to cut it.

For a few months, I cut back on the bandwidth to save a little coin. Unfortunately,  it might have been too much. On a gaming night, streaming Netflix, doing homework, gaming, and voip was just a little too much.

Luckily there was a sale on 75 down and 25 up so I jumped on it. Everything is so much smoother now. I never thought that 15 would not be enough. I guess my memories of 28kbps is throwing things off. 20 years later from those days, I am using 75mbps which is almost 3000 faster.

I guess we are using that much more data these days.

Why do I still have a cable subscription? ???Why do I still have a cable subscription? ???

The past few weeks have had a couple of interesting revelations in retrospect.

One is I am not sure I watch enough TV to justify the cost of a cable subscription. We have been watching a few series on Netflix and don’t miss anything on TV. There are a few series we actually try to keep up with like Madmen but they end up on Netflix anyway. We started watching Breaking Bad in season 3 and it was awesome to watch it in large chunks.

Everything looks better in slow motion

Well, that went well…Well, that went well…

Finally worked up the courage to sign up for a pistol competition. Found an email from http://silvereaglegroup.com/ The challenge is for a team of 4 to compete in a single elimination. Sine I don’t have any friends, I signed up just myself but would just go 4 times. The entry cost is $80. When I arrived I found out how the course is laid out. It was a pretty good challenge. This is the layout:

Matchlayout

Having been a single competitor, we ran the course late in the match.  I was really happy with my times, but my accuracy wasn’t on point.

Run Time Miss Total
1 25.72 10 35.72
2 25.?? 5 30.??
3 25.86 10 35.86
4 25.68 14 39.68
Total 141.63

In my group of three I cam in last. The one thing the instructors didn’t go over was the scoring on the regular targets. Head shots were -2 seconds, so these 2 gubers were aiming for all the heads. The 2nd place was ~70 seconds and the 1st place was ~28 seconds. One rounds and done. Unfortunately the drive is 1.5 hours there and 1 back using the toll road. This added another $14 to the total cost plus 2 gallons of gas. As fun as the event was, the juice was not worth the squeeze.

Ah man…Ah man…

So close. It was warm and normal spring, then suddenly a slap in the face. I was not ready for the harsh winds and cold temps. This isn’t helping Deepa’s argument to move to Hawaii. Might have to keep Zillow Hawaii area in my bookmarks.

At least I can get more gaming on without feeling bad of not taking advantage of the weather. Just finished Frycry 3. I think I logged 50 hours on that game. Great game. The story really supported the open environment. The upgrades and escalation of difficulty matched pretty well also. This might be a 5/5 the more I think about it. My next game is Xcom enemy within. Rex hooked me up for Christmas. I have a feeling this might be another 50 hour game.

We are playing Ghost Recon and I am surprised how good the multi player is. It’s a good mix of different scenarios and timed action sequences for a co-op. After this I might jump on Battlefield 4. I don’t like how EA forces you to use their game manager. Why would you leave Steam. Come on EA.
